Can we be honest with you? Designing stationery for your wedding day can be really hard.

For both of us, wedding stationery was one of our biggest stressors
…and we do this for a living!

Between nailing down all the details, making sure all the addresses were correct, double checking every guest’s name for spelling errors and just simply deciding on a look to fully capture what our big day was going to feel like—it’s all just… a lot. So, please hear us when we say we fully understand what you are going through. Let’s be real, wedding planning as a whole can be so, so stressful. Which is exactly why hiring a stationery designer for your wedding day should be at the very top of your to-do list.

5 Reasons Why You Should Hire A Stationery Designer For Your Wedding Invitations

There are a number of reasons why hiring a designer is so important. Not only are there so many details to keep track of, but the stress that can come along with it can just be too much. You don’t need that in your life right now—you’re trying to enjoy your engagement! Do yourself a favor and hire a designer to take the load off so you can spend more time with your fiance and your loved ones during this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Still not so sure? Well, here are five reasons why hiring a stationery designer for your wedding invitations is without a doubt, a top priority.

1. The first impression

Your invitations are the very first glimpse into what your wedding day will be like. The style of the invitations not only reflect you as a couple, but also the type of wedding you’re having. Is it formal, semi-formal or casual? Is it in the cathedral downtown or on your family’s property? Each of these elements need to come across to your guests in your invites, because it will help your guests know how to dress, what to expect, and gets them excited for your wedding day!

Fun Fact: We always tell couples that we decide what to wear based on the invitation.

Think of it this way, if you received an invitation that had watercolor sunflowers and the whole suite was packaged together with burlap, what vibe would you get from that? Country-chic? Maybe full-on rustic? So, we would probably wear a cute sundress and maybe some cowboy boots if we had them. On the flip-side, what if you received an invitation that was letterpress and foil stamped in gold and the envelope had your name in gold ink calligraphy? What vibe would you get from that? We for sure would be whipping out that little black dress we only wear about once a year, because that invitation is super fancy.

When it comes to wedding invitations, first impressions are everything.

2. The options are endless… and sometimes overwhelming

Having your stationery incorporate different elements of your wedding is really important. But, sometimes finding the right templated invitation can be hard to find. There are thousands upon thousands of invitations available online. By the time you dig through all of them, you’ll find that they aren’t as customizable as you may like. Or, some you can’t customize at all and that’s just the freakin’ worst.

You’re not a cookie cutter couple, so why should you have a cookie cutter invitation?

The answer to that is you shouldn’t. You deserve so much more than that. You deserve a custom-made invitation that screams you.

Instead of wasting hours weeding out the invites that may or may not work, invest a little time into choosing the right stationery designer for you and your needs. Then, there will be no question whether or not you made the right choice, because you get to make it completely your own.

3. Stationery designer or best friend? Is there a difference?

Okay, yes, its a little extreme to call us your new best friends, but hear us out.

When you hire a stationery designer, you’re getting soooooooo much more than just a designer. You’re getting your very own personal assistant for all things mail-related. And not only that, but depending on what you need for the big day, you may also experience a tailored experience for your day-of materials as well.

Your designer is someone you should feel comfortable leaning on for all of your needs. You should depend on them to understand all the insane mailing rules so your guests receive your invitations *hopefully* in one, beautiful piece. Also, they should know the ins and outs of each possibly printing technique that may be beneficial to you. Above all else, they should be someone you can rely on to tell you if what you’re creating is right for you.

Remember how we said your stationery designer is sort of like your best friend? Well, we are in the way that we truly want to get to know you. What makes you the couple that you are. How do we show your guests who you are and how does that reflect your very special day? We want to learn everything there is to know about you that can help us represent you in a true, authentic way.

So, is there really a difference between being your stationery designer and your best friend? Ehh, not really.

4. Third times a charm

A loaded bonus about working with a stationery designer for your invitations? Edits.

By working with your very own designer, you get to make little changes to your designs that will make them perfect for the two of you. You’ll get to incorporate special wording if you’d like and very specific colors, all of which might be hard to find without working with a designer.

Can an online, template shop do that? Didn’t think so.

That alone is a major perk to hiring a designer to curate invitations or other stationery items for your wedding day. Then, there’s absolutely no doubt that everything is exactly the way you envisioned it.

5. The finished product is heirloom-worthy

When your all done creating your dream invitations, you will have also just created your very first family heirloom. Your invitation is something maybe you’ll want to frame, keep in a scrapbook, put into that beautiful photo album your photographer is going to make for you. Or maybe you’ll put it in a wedding memory box and hang on to it to look back on when your best friend gets married, or your little sister or maybe even your daughter.

We hope that your invitation isn’t just a piece of pretty paper that you put in the mail, but that its something you’ll cherish for the years to come.

When you start to think of your invitations as heirlooms, that’s reason alone to hire a professional.

Making that jaw-dropping first impression on your guests is so, so important, designing your wedding invitations can be stressful when there’s so much noise to weed through. When you hire a stationery designer (or a new best friend, remember?) they can ease so much of that stress by taking the load off of your hands. They want to make sure every.single.aspect of your invitations are perfect. Not just perfect, but perfect for you. With endless edits and an heirloom-finish, why wouldn’t you want a designer to create something stunning for your big day?

Obviously we’re biased and think a designer is a great fit for everybody, but really, truly—you have to do what’s right for you.
